Gerald “Jack” Franklin Beacham, age 70, of 1442 Center Street, Munising, died at 5:50 p.m Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at his home under the care of Northwoods Hospice and his family following a brief illness. Jack was born on July 13, 1937 in Senath, Missouri to Leonard and Verna (Sullivan) Beacham. He graduated from Bangor High School and shortly after high school, he served almost ten years with the Army National Guard. Jack truly loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He was thrilled when he and his wife Barb moved to God’s Country twenty years ago. Jack had been a realtor for Big C Realty and volunteered in the community. He was an avid Amateur Radio Operator and actively supported the local club and its outings. Jack enjoyed his grandchildren and he impacted each of their lives. He took his grandsons and granddaughters out in the woods and taught them to fish, hunt, and drive a stick shift at a young age.

He is survived by his wife of almost thirty-six years – Barbara Beacham of Munising; children – Sandy (Jeff) Harvey of Grand Rapids, Retired USAF Staff Sergeant Larry Franklin (Lea Ann) Beacham of Battle Creek and formerly of South Haven; and Susan Parkkila of Cooks; grandchildren – Amy Rivera, Aaron Janosky, Laura Beacham, and Joseph Parkkila; great-granddaughter – Aliya “Alley Cat” Rivera; sisters – Wanda Stampley and Claira Harris both of Kennett, Missouri; brother – Charles Beacham of Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his father Leonard, mother Verna, step-mother Estelle, and son-in-law Larry P. Janosky, Jr.

Services for Jack will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Friday, September 14, 2007. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. and Pastor Jason LaFlamme will conduct a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, September 15, a graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Dover Township Cemetery in Luther, Michigan.

Memorials in memory of Jack may be directed to the Alger Amateur Radio Club, N3253 Buckhorn Road, Wetmore, MI 49895.
