Donald Robert Brink
(April 10, 1927 - June 2, 2006)
 

 Shelter Bay

Donald “Don” Robert Brink, age 79, of Marquette and formerly of Shelter Bay, Michigan died on Friday afternoon, June 2, 2006 at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette. He was born on April 10, 1927 in Holland, Michigan to Rudolph and Helen (Takken) Brink. Don served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict in Panama City as a Med Tech at a tuberculosis hospital. He graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and returned there for his Master’s studies in Business Administration. Don was the owner of Peninsula Marine, Inc. and previously worked for Gunlock Construction in Houghton and C & C Construction in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, boating, music (bluegrass to classical), spectator sports, and the simple things of life.

Don leaves three sons – Marc Brink of Appleton, WI, Michael Brink of Grand Rapids, MI, and Matthew Brink of Everett, WA; granddaughter – Mara Brink of Chesterfield, VA; grandson – Joseph Brink of Everett, WA; his beloved friend and companion of the past twenty-five years – Margaret “Maggie” Dupras of Marquette; brother – William (Carol) Brink of Bingham Farms, MI; sister Marilyn (Nickolas) Bridges of Fish Lake and Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and six nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Helen Brink.

A memorial service will be conducted by lay minister Ardy Johnson on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at 2:30 pm. in the chapel of the Jacobetti Veterans Home. A memorial reception for family and friends will be held at the Brownstone Inn in AuTrain from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jacobetti Activities Department.
