Marie Louise Duffany
(September 14, 1921 - April 18, 2006)
 

Munising

Marie Louise Duffany, age 84, of Munising, died at 9:55 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at the Tendercare Health Center in Munising. She was born on September 14, 1921 in Munising to Ovid and Lenora (LeClare) Berube. Marie graduated from SH School and Wm G Mather High School in 1939. On June 21, 1941, she married Lawrence “Duff” Duffany. They were married over 58 years when he preceded her in death on May 31, 2000. Marie was a member of Sacred Heart Church, St. Joseph Circle of St. Anthony’s Guild, the National Catholic Society of Foresters, and the American Legion Auxiliary. For many years, Marie helped the church with their funeral luncheon committee and she also was the cook for the noon Rotary Club luncheon. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading.

Marie is survived by four children – Denise (Kenneth) Kozlowski of Anchor Bay, MI, Larry (Renae) Duffany of Fenton, MI, Lois (Luther) Hall of Macomb Township, MI, and Anita (Ro) Lehew of York, SC; 10 grandchildren – Terese, Patrick, Joseph, Richard, Kevin, Brian, Darren, Anthony, Nichole, and Bradley; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters – Lois (Duke) Doucette of AuTrain and Pat (James) Bovan of Flushing, MI ; sister –in-law– Dwylia (Robert) Flattery of Saginaw; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Duff, four sisters Alice Steinhoff, Genevieve Zimmerman, Frances Buchanen, and Blanche Hock and three brothers Jack, Ovid, and Joseph Berube.

Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. and a Parish Vigil Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Deacon James Anderson will conduct Marie’s funeral service on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising. Honorary escorts will be members of the National Catholic Society of Foresters.
