Nancy Ann Stephens
(June 24, 1936 - August 3, 2008)
 

Munising

Nancy Ann Stephens, age 72, of N7234 Connors Road, died on Sunday morning, August 3, 2008 at Marquette General Hospital. She was born on June 24, 1936 in Munising to the late Gerald and Katherine (Stimac) Casey. Nancy graduated from Sacred Heart School and then Wm. G. Mather High School in 1954. She married George R. Stephens on June 1, 1957. Nancy was a homemaker and she and George raised their five children. She was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Church and was a member of St. Gerard’s Circle, St. Anthony’s Guild and the National Catholic Order of Foresters. Nancy enjoyed square dancing with George, camping, going to lunch with her girlfriends, and collecting angels and birds. Nancy was a loving caregiver for many years.

She is survived by her husband of over fifty-one years - George Stephens of Munising; children – Richard (Funtma) Stephens of Cairo, Egypt, Mary (Mark) Doolittle of AuTrain, Thomas Stephens of Munising, and Katherine Stephens of Munising; grandchildren – Chad, Dena, and Suzanne Stephens, Chelsea (Jeff) Martin, Joshua Gatiss, and Cheyenne Cota; great-grandchildren – Jeffrey and Morgan Martin; brother – James (Debbie) Casey of Munising; sisters and brothers-in-law – Bill (Georgia) Stephens of Kissimmee, FL, Norma Secreast, Betty Lane, and Ruth Fitzgerald all of Munising, Dorothy Kuenzer of Sault Ste. Marie, and Margaret Boguth of Port Huron; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, son Patrick, son-in-law Tom McCollum, and in-laws Jack Stephens, Jerry Secreast, James Lane, Ray Kuenzer, and Maurice Boguth.

Visitation will be held at the Bowerman Funeral Home on Sunday evening, August 10, 2008 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. A Parish Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. During the Vigil, there will be a time for remembrances and telling of stories. On Monday, August 11, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Chris Gardiner at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising.

Nancy’s family would like to express their thanks to North Woods Home Nursing for their care and support of Nancy during her illness.
